KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES

This is the family history and genealogy of my direct line Jones ancestors: Hugh Jones, Hugh Jones (2), Joseph White Jones, Hugh Jones (3), Henry Clay Jones, Granderson Monroe (Dutch) Jones and my father James Garland (Bo) Jones, Sr. This journey will take us from the shores of Maryland, to Union County Arkansas. On this trip we will visit Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Arkansas. Sit back and see if you can keep up with the Joneses.

About Me

My photo
James G "Jim" Jones
I graduated from La Tech in 1965 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and LSU Shreveport in 1985 with a BS in Computer Science. I retired after 31 years with AT&T/Lucent working as a Senior Plant Engineer. Shortly before retirement I became interested in Genealogy/Family History research and began to research my Jones and Colvin lines. My wife and I have done extensive research for 14 years. My family heads up the GENCOM Genealogical Computer Society in Shreveport, Louisiana and hold regular monthly meetings with some special events during the year. I am president, my wife is the editor of our monthly newsletter and my daughter is treasurer. This is one of the most enjoyable things that I have done in my life. If I could go back I would become interested in Genealogy earlier and possibly made that my main career. My wife I started doing DNA tests about nine years ago, and at the present are leading a DNA Special Interest Group associated with GENCOM. We hold monthly meetings and work with people helping them determine which DNA test to take and how to analyze their test results.
